Comments:
An announced initial family day home inspection was conducted on Thursday, July 15, 2021 from approximately 1:50PM until 3:20PM. There were three non-resident children and one resident child in care during the inspection. The caregiver has requested a license to provide care for eight children, from two to six years of age. A complete walk through inspection of the home and outdoor areas was conducted with the caregiver. The background checks for the caregiver were reviewed during the inspection. The majority of care and supervision of children will take place in the playroom, kitchen and den. A sufficient number of toys and equipment was observed located in the home for the requested number of children.
Children will bring their lunches from home while the caregiver will provide snacks for the children. A weekly menu was reviewed during the inspection. The provider also provides mats for the children to sleep on along with top and bottom linens. During the inspection, children were resting and taking bathroom breaks and washing their hands. The provider stated medication will not be administered at this time. Transportation will not be provided at this time. During the inspection, the licensing inspector reviewed emergency plans, parent information, required provider training, emergency supplies and required postings. The provider has submitted all of the required application materials at this time. However, some standards of care could not be determined during the initial study; the provider is in substantial compliance with the standards that could be determined. A recommendation for a six-month conditional license will be made at this time. During the conditional period, the provider will be subject to unannounced licensing inspections, with the first inspection taking place within the first sixty days of licensure. Please contact Lynn Powers at (804) 840-8260 if you have any questions regarding this inspection.
