Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on October 28, 2021 and concluded on October 28, 2021. The provider was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were seven children present, ranging in ages from four months to 12 years, with two caregivers supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of four child records and three caregiver/ household member records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-730-D
Description: Based on observation and interview, the provider did not ensure medications for household members were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

Evidence:

1. A medication box located in the providers bedroom was not locked at the time of the inspection. The medication box contained medications identified by the provider as being for household members.
2. The provider stated the box was not locked as that time.

Plan of Correction: Per the provider: The box was locked earlier, however I believe my grandchildren removed it. I will return the lock to the medication box today.
