Comments:
A renewal inspection was initiated on 3/08/2022 and concluded on 3/08/2022. The inspector was on site at the family day home from 3:00pm to 4:25pm. There were 10 children present, with 2 caregivers supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 2 children's record and 2 caregiver records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-240-A
Description: Based on observation, the family day home did not ensure area and furnishings of the family day home, inside and outside, were maintained in a clean, safe, and operable condition.
Evidence:
The provider's fence contained several protruding screws. The screws where out of reach of children in care. However, the fence is climbable and the protruding screws could puncture a child's skin if the fence is climbed.

Plan of Correction: Screw tips will be removed Saturday 3/12/2022.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-730-D
Description: Based on observation, the provider did not ensure medication was kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence:
1. The bathroom had one bottle of medication located in an unlocked cabinet.
2. The first aid kit contained medication. The first aid kit was located in an unlocked closet.

Plan of Correction: Corrected during the inspection.
