Comments:
A monitoring inspection was conducted on 07/13/2022. There were a total of 6 children (13 points) observed with 1 caregivers present. The children were engaged in the following: toy play, and eating lunch. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, personnel and household members, physical environment, care of children, handwashing, diapering, medication, emergencies and nutrition. A total of 3 child records and 1 caregiver/household member records were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Standard #: 22.1-289.035-A
Description: Based on a review of records, caregiver records do not contain documentation of repeated central registry searches (CPS) in the allowable 5 year time frame.
Evidence: 1 0f 1 record reviewed contained documentation of CPS searches dated 4/6/2017 (expired) (Caregiver A)

Plan of Correction: I will send out the CPS search this week.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-830-A
Description: Based on documentation review, emergency evacuation procedures were not practiced monthly.
Evidence:
1) The emergency drills log provided for review, did not show emergency drills documented for the month of June 2022.

Plan of Correction: Corrected during the inspection.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-240-A
Description: Based on observation, the family day home was not maintained in a clean, safe, and operable condition.
Evidence: There was no smoke detector available on the basement level of the house.

Plan of Correction: I will put a smoke detector up this week.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-680-B
Description: Based on observation, children did not wash hands with liquid soap and warm running water.
Evidence: The children 5 of the 6 children present did not wash hands before eating.

Plan of Correction: The children will wash hands before and after eating.
