Comments:
A renewal inspection was conducted on August 9, 2022. There were four children present with one caregiver supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of four child records and one caregiver record were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-280
Description: Based on observation, provider did not ensure potentially poisonous substances are stored away from food in areas inaccessible to children.

Evidence: Two air fresheners labeled "Caution" and "Keep out of Reach of Children" were stored on a table in the hallway by the bathroom that is used by the children. The air fresheners were within reach of children.

Plan of Correction: The air fresheners were removed immediately and will be kept out of reach of children.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-540-A
Description: Based on observation, provider did not ensure when high chairs are occupied by a child that the safety strap is used and securely fastened.

Evidence: Two children were observed sitting in high chairs while eating a snack. The safety strap was not fastened and was hanging down from the high chair seat.

Plan of Correction: The provider will make sure the safety belts are fastened when children sit in high chairs.
