8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Family Day Homes

Comments:
An unannounced subsidy health and safety (SHSI) inspection was conducted on August 17, 2022. There were 12 children present with two caregivers supervising. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. If you have questions regarding this inspection, please contact the licensing Inspector.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-790-170-G
Description: Based on review of children?s records and interview, the provider did not maintain a current written list of children?s allergies, sensitivities and dietary restrictions. This list shall be dated and kept confidential.

Evidence:

1. The record of child #4, age 23 months, contained documentation of a food sensitivity.
2. The provider stated she did not have a written list of children?s allergies, sensitivities and dietary restrictions.

Plan of Correction: Per the provider: I will make a written list of the children's allergies, sensitivities and dietary restrictions.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-250-B
Description: Based on review of four caregiver records and interview, the provider did not ensure three caregivers completed Virginia Preservice training for Child Care Staff sponsored by the Department of Education within the first 90 days of employment or service.

Evidence:

1. Caregiver #1, caregiver #2 and caregiver #3 did not have documentation of completing the Virginia Preservice training within 90 days from approval as a subsidy vender dated 02/21/2019.
2. The provider stated caregiver #1, caregiver #2 and caregiver #3 had not completed the Virginia Preservice training.

Plan of Correction: Per the provider: All caregivers have started the Virginia preservice training. They will finish it by next week.
