Technical Assistance:

Provided consultation on the following: Discussed voice tone when redirecting the children?s behavior. Spoke with provider about monitoring infants more closely to be sure they are staying engaged and not getting bored in stationary activities.

Comments:

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 09/07/2022 from 9:30am to 11:30am. There were 11 children ages 9 months to age 4 years old (26 points) with the Provider and 1 assistants. The programming area, outdoor playground area, menus, Provider, Assistant and Household member records, 11 child records, attendance, emergency drills, and emergency supplies were reviewed. Children were observed participating in writing and math worksheets, playing with legos, and learning about shapes. Diapering and handwashing procedures were also observed. There were adequate staff with current certification in CPR and First Aid training. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Please complete the columns for "Plan of Correction" and "Date to be Corrected" for each violation cited on the Violation Notice, and then return a signed and dated copy to the licensing office by 5pm on 9/16/2022. Standard #:	8VAC20-800-780-B
Description:	Based on review of 11 child records, the provider did not conduct an annual review of children?s emergency contact information and the parent?s acknowledgment of the review. Evidence: The records for Child #1, Child #2, Child #3, Child #4, Child #5 and Child #6 did not contain documentation of an annual review of the children?s emergency contacts, nor did the records contain parent acknowledgment of the review.
Plan of Correction:	I'll let the children's parents sign it.
Standard #:	8VAC20-800-50-A
Description:	Based on review of the written attendance record and interview with staff, the provider did not ensure they maintained a written record of children in attendance each day. Evidence: 1)During the inspection in was determined there were 11 children present, but the written record reflected there were no children present.
Plan of Correction:	I'll check the child's name off once they are dropped off.
Standard #:	8VAC20-800-630-A
Description:	Based on observation, the provider did not ensure use of positive methods of discipline that were constructive in nature and included techniques such as redirecting children to acceptable behavior. Evidence: During the inspection, Child #4 (DOB 6/24/20) was being corrected for disrupting the learning of others in care. Caregiver #2 repeated ?stop it? to the child on a number of occasions. The caregiver then picked the child up by their arm and carried the child across the room by the child?s arm to redirect them to a new activity.
Plan of Correction:	Me and my assistant will work on it.
