Comments:
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 12/5/2022 and concluded on 12/5/2022. There was one child present with one provider. The point total was two. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of two child records and one staff record was reviewed. The inspection started at 10:15 am and concluded at 11:30 am.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-770
Description: Based on observation and interviews the provider failed to ensure that a working battery-operated flashlight, a working portable battery-operated weather band radio, and extra batteries shall be kept in a designated area and be available to caregivers at all times.
Evidence:
The radio available did not have batteries and there was not a battery operated weather band radio available.

Plan of Correction: The provider will purchase batteries to have available and if not able to find the weather band radio one will be purchased.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-830-A
Description: Based on record review and interviews the provider failed to ensure The emergency evacuation procedures shall be practiced monthly with all caregivers and children in care during all shifts that children are in care.
Evidence:
The emergency evacuation drills (fire drills) were not practiced for the months of June through November, 2022.

Plan of Correction: The provider will ensure that fire drills are conducted monthly. The provider will also ensure that all required drills are conducted within the set time frames.
