Technical Assistance:

Discussed the attendance sheet and the importance of keeping it updated throughout the day and importance of knowing how many children you are caring for at all times.

Comments:

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 10:45am-11:49am with the provider on site. There were 8 children with 2 caregivers. A sample of 2 children's files and 3 caregivers/household member's files were reviewed. The children were engaged in the following: toy play, coloring and circle time. Interactions between the children and caregivers were positive. The site was clean. The physical space, attendance records, first aid kit, drill record and the Emergency Preparedness Plan were reviewed. There were no medications on site. Standard #:	8VAC20-770-60-C-2
Description:	Based on record review, the family day home provider did not have the central registry findings within 30 days of employment for the Substitute. Evidence: 1. Substitute #1 (Approximate start date 7/2022) did not have the central registry findings in the file. The provider stated the Substitute had started in July 2022 and had sent the request for the results, but it was sent back incomplete.
Plan of Correction:	I will resend for the central registry.
Standard #:	8VAC20-800-120-B
Description:	Based on review, the Substitute's record did not contain all required information. Evidence: 1. Substitute #1's file did not have the employment date, job title, two references and age verification. The provider stated she started in July 2022.
Plan of Correction:	I will find the one reference and get one more and locate the start date and verify the age.
Standard #:	8VAC20-800-280
Description:	Based on observation, potentially poisonous substances, materials and supplies were not stored away in areas inaccessible to children. Evidence: 1. In the restroom the children use, a cleaning product, glade spray and toilet cleaner was on the floor in the bathroom.
Plan of Correction:	I moved them and locked them in the laundry room closet.

Description:	Based on observation, small electrical appliances such as, but not limited to, curling irons, toasters, blenders, can openers, and irons were not unplugged when not in use by the caregiver. Evidence: 1. The toaster in the kitchen was not being used and remained plugged into the outlet.
Plan of Correction:	I unplugged it.
