Technical Assistance:
Discussed the need for a back up assistant. And also the need for the part time assistant to stay until the provider is in ration.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 3/16/2023. The provider had 9 children in care totaling 21 points. The assistant had left at 11am according to the provider.
The children were observed playing outside, playing inside , having lunch and getting ready for nap. Today's lunch was spaghetti and sauce, with bananas and cut up grapes served as the fruit.
Milk was offered as the drink. Lots of interaction between the provider and the children. The children are all great communicators. A violation notice was given to the provider with this summary. Please call me at 703-203-8659 or email me at pernille.brandt@doe.virginia.gov if you have any questions regarding this inspection.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-790-180-A
Description: Based on review of staff records, the provider failed to get the subsequent TB screening done for one assistant.
Evidence: Review of 3 staff files were conducted during the inspection. Staff 2 is missing a subsequent TB screening, last screening is from 10/12/21.

Plan of Correction: I will make sure I send my assistant to get a TB screening.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-570-A
Description: Based on observation during the inspection, the provider failed to ensure that a caregiver did not exceed 16 points,
Evidence: At the time of the inspection the provider was observed with 9 children totaling 21 points. The provider stated that the assistant had gone to the library to drop off library books.
The provider later stated that the assistant had errands to run and would not return.

Plan of Correction: This is an unusual day, my husband is usually my assistant and he had training today. My other assistant works until 1:00 but left early today. I will make sure I have a back up when my husband can not be here.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-690-D
Description: Based on the inspection of the physical plant, the provider failed to have a nonabsorbent diaper changing pad.
Evidence: The diaper changing pad on the diaper changing table is torn and is no longer nonabsorbent,

Plan of Correction: I will by a new diaper pad today.
