An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 3/282/23 from 9:05am to 10:05am with the provider. There were 10 children in care throughout the inspection, ranging in age from two-years to four-years-old, for a total of 20 points. One child was picked up during the inspection. Children were observed having free play, cleaning up and washing hands, and older children did ?school work? while younger children continued free play. Three child records and the provider?s record were reviewed. The provider has current certification in CPR and First Aid. The provider does not give medication and is aware of the requirement for Medication Administration Training if she changes her policy. The emergency drill log, attendance, and menu were reviewed; required postings were observed. Standard #: 8VAC20-800-570-A Description: Based on observation, the provider did not ensure that a caregiver did not exceed 16 points following the point system. Evidence: On 3/28/23 there were 10 children in care at the family day home: 4-year-old (2 points), 2-year-old (2 points), 4-year-old (2 points), 4-year-old (2 points), 4-year-old (2 points), 3-year-old (2 points), 4-year-old (2 points), 2-year-old (2 points), 3-year-old (2 points), 2-year-old (2 points). One child was picked up during the inspection, reducing the points to 18. The provider was the only caregiver present. Plan of Correction: My assistant left without giving notice and I had already started the process of hiring another. I wanted to make sure I received her last background check before I had her start and I was following up daily to see if the results were ready.
