Technical Assistance:
Provided consultation on the following:
8VAC20-800-260A Pool ladder must always be stored so that it is inaccessible to children.

8VAC20-800-430 B Pressure mounted gates cannot be used at stair openings.

8VAC20-800-690 E Soiled disposable diapers and wipes need to be disposed of in a trash can where the caregiver's hand nor the soiled diaper or wipe touches the exterior surface of the trash can.

Comments:
The inspection findings have been updated as a result of a first step review completed on 12/19/2023.

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 10/30/2023 from 10:35am to 12:05pm. There were 5 children ages 4 months to age 4 years old (13 points) with the Provider. The programming area, attendance, outdoor play area, menu, Provider and Household member records, 5 children?s records, emergency drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were reviewed. There were no medications on site. Children were observed participating in dramatic play, playing in a bouncing chair, and watching television. Handwashing procedures were also observed. The Provider had current certification in CPR and First Aid training. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Violations:
Standard #: 22.1-289.036-A
Description: Based on review of 3 Household member records, the provider did not obtain a central registry background check report every five years from the date of the last check.

Evidence: The record for Household member #1 and Household member #2 did not contain documentation that a central registry background check report had been completed every five years from the date of the last check. The last central registry check on file for both Household member #1 and Household member #2 was completed on 10/3/2018.

Plan of Correction: Waiting on results from DSS.

Standard #: 8VAC20-770-40-D-5
Description: Based on review of 3 Household member records, the Provider did not obtain documentation of a completed Central Registry check for each Household member within 30 days of a person in the home becoming 14 years old.

Evidence: The record for Household member #3 (Age 14) did not contain documentation of a completed Central Registry check.

Plan of Correction: Waiting on results from DSS.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-750-B
Description: Based on observation, the Provider did not ensure that topical skin products such as sunscreen, diaper ointment and lotion, oral teething medicine and insect repellent were inaccessible to children.

Evidence: There were 3 diaper creams stored in one of the lower drawers next to the diapering table where children have access.

Plan of Correction: Topical creams corrected at inspection. Were in a locked container in the top drawer. not lower
