Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today between 12:00pm and 1:10pm. There were 12 children present with the provider and 1 assistant for a total of 24 points within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed eating lunch (macaroni and cheese) and transitioning to naptime. A complete inspection of the physical space, children and staff records, fire drill log, attendance and emergency procedures were observed during this inspection. The provider is not trained to administer medication and confirmed that there were no medications kept on site. Violations were found during todays inspection and can be viewed on the Violation Notice.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-800-B
Description: Based on record review, the provider did not review the emergency plan at least annually and update the plan as needed.
Evidence: The most recent documented review of the emergency plan was dated 3/4/2022.

Plan of Correction: I can do it this weekend.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-880
Description: Based on observation, food requirements were not met when meals were provided by the family day home.
Evidence: The children were observed eating macaroni and cheese for lunch. They were not served a fruit, vegetables or a protein.

Plan of Correction: We usually do. We'll serve more food tomorrow.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-920
Description: Based on observation, meal requirements were not met.
Evidence: There is no menu posted.

Plan of Correction: We were working on it. We'll post it for tomorrow.

Description: Based on observation, children's information was not kept privileged and confidential.
Evidence: The supplemental from the most recent inspection which clearly states "DO NOT POST" was posted within the inspection notice.

Description: Based on observation, potentially poisonous substances were not stored in areas inaccessible to children.
Evidence: There was a spray bottle of air freshener observed on the counter of the children's backroom.

Description: Based on observation, caregivers did not ensure that hand washing requirements were met.
Evidence: Two children were observed taking bathroom breaks prior to taking naps. Both children did not wash their hands after going to the bathroom.

Plan of Correction: We will remind the children they need to wash their hands.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-690-L
Description: Based on observation, toilet chairs were not emptied promptly, clean and sanitized after each use.
Evidence: At the start of the inspection, there was a toilet chair observed in the children's bathroom which has been used and not emptied. After the children finished lunch, a child was observed using the non-cleaned/sanitized toilet chair. The toilet chair was not emptied and clean after the second observed use.

Plan of Correction: We will make sure we do it.
