A Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection was conducted on Thursday, February 1, 2024. Two inspectors were on site from approximately 10:15 am until 12 pm. There were 12 children present with 1 caregiver and one assistant supervising for a value of 23 points. Children were observed having circle time practicing their Spanish vocabulary, learning dates, months, seasons of the year. Provider was reading a book to the children while they were sitting on the carpet. The inspectors interacted with the provider and children in care. The children were excited to be playing outside, interacting with other children, learning and developing their Spanish vocabulary. The inspectors reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, personnel, household members, care of children, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of five child records and three caregiver records were reviewed.
A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-430-B Description: Based on a review of documentation and interviews, the vendor did not maintain a record of the dates of the practice drills for one year.
Evidence: The emergency response drills for 2023 were reviewed. Documentation of a lockdown drill was not documented. During interviews, Caregiver #1 stated the lockdown procedures were practiced annually, but documentation of the drill was not maintained as required.Plan of Correction: Moving forward, all practice drills will be documented at the time they are conducted.
