Comments:
An announced initial inspection was conducted Monday, March 25, 2024 between the hours of 9:50am - 11:45am. There were no children in care during the time of inspection. The family day home was observed for adequate supplies, activities, and equipment for the ages of children requested for licensure. The home was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-760-A-1
Description: Based on observation, the first aid kit did not contain all required items.
Evidence:
1) The first aid kit did not contain tweezers, thermometer, or first aid instructional manual.

Plan of Correction: Purchased and added tweezers, thermometer, and first aid instruction manual to the first aid kit.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-770
Description: Based on observation, a working portable battery-operated weather band radio was not available.
Evidence:
1) The portable battery-operated radio that the Provider had on site was not in working condition during the inspection.

Plan of Correction: Purchased and placed a working portable battery operated weather band radio in the kitchen next to the camera.

Description: Based on record review and interview, the family day home did not have a written emergency preparedness and response plan.
Evidence:
1) Documentation of the emergency preparedness and response plan was not available for review during the inspection.
2) The Provider stated that the emergency preparedness and response plan was not available for review.

Plan of Correction: 7 page documentation of the emergency preparedness and response plan was developed and available in the policies and procedures folder.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-330-A
Description: Based on interview, the provider did not have an operable and accessible landline telephone.
Evidence:
1) The Provider stated that she did not currently have an operable landline telephone.

Plan of Correction: Installed landline through Verizon. The landline # is 703-723-4052.
