A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on 02/11/2020 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. The inspector arrived at the center at 8:15 AM and departed at 1:30 PM. There were 47 children in care with 8 staff providing care and supervision. Five children's and five staff records were reviewed on this date. This vendor had two medications and those medications were assessed as well. A licensing inspection was also conducted this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection and discussed at the conclusion. Standard #: 22VAC40-665-540-A Description: Based on record review, the vendor failed to ensure that staff shall be evaluated by a health professional and be issued a statement that the individual is determined to be free of communicable tuberculosis (TB). Documentation of the screening shall be submitted at the time of employment and prior to coming into contact with children.
Evidence:
Staff 3 had a documented date of hire, 09/27/2019 and a documented TB screening date, 11/01/2019.Plan of Correction: Staff with have a TB screening prior to hire.
Standard #: 22VAC40-665-580-E-2 Description: Based on record review, the vendor failed to ensure that all staff who work directly with children shall have, within 90 days of the date of employment or 90 days from subsidy vendor approval, current certification in CPR and current certification in first aid.
Evidence:
1. Staff 3 had a documented date of hire, 09/27/2019 and no CPR or first aid certification in their record. Staff 6 verified this information.
2. Staff 3 was seen working with children during the inspection.Plan of Correction: Staff will ensure that everyone is CPR and First Aid certified.
