Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 7/11/2023 from 11:25 am to 2:15 pm. There were 38 children in care, ages 7 months to 6 years, in five groups under the care of eight staff. The Licensing Inspector reviewed three children?s records, four medications, four staff records, and other program records. The children were observed on the playground, having lunch, washing hands, being changed, having infant tummy time, and free play indoors.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-500-B
Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that a staff member?s hand touched the exterior surface of the soiled diaper storage during diaper disposal.

EVIDENCE:
Staff 4 touched the lid of the diaper trash can while opening it with their hand during a diaper change.

Plan of Correction: Management stated that staff would have refresher training regarding requirements of diaper changing.
