An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 1pm through 2pm. There were 25 children in care ages three through five years old with four teachers, one of whom is the program director. Children records and staff emergency contact information were reviewed on site. Staff records are housed at a central location and will be reviewed at a later date. A walking of the building was completed. Required postings, annual inspections, emergency evacuation drills first aid kit and medication were reviewed. Children were observed in teacher and self-directed activities including restroom routines, hand washing, lunch, and learning center play. A single violation regarding emergency evacuation practice drills was identified and appears on the violation notice. The violation was discussed with the program director on site at the conclusion of the inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on documentation review and interview the center failed to implement a monthly practice evacuation drill.
Evidence:
1 - The emergency evacuation log does not show that drills were practiced during the months of May and June in the 2018-2019 school year.
2 - Staff 1 confirmed that there was not any documentation that drills were conducted during May and June of 2019.Plan of Correction: Going forward center management will ensure that evacuation drills are practiced and documented each month that the program is in session.
