This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on October 15, 2020 and concluded on October 16, 2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 3 children present and 1 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 2 children?s records and 1 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-340-C Description: Based on staff interviews and review of center documentation, the licensee did not ensure that during the stated hours of operation, there always shall be on the premises when one or more children are present one staff member who meets the qualifications of a program leader or program director and an immediately available staff member, volunteer or other employee who is at least 16 years of age, with direct means for communication between the two of them. The volunteer or other employee shall have received instruction in how to contact appropriate authorities if there is an emergency.
Evidence: Center staff #1confirmed there was not always a second staff/ volunteer on the premises when children were in care. On October 14, 2020 from approximately 12:00pm to 1:00pm, staff #1 confirmed they were alone on the premise with 3 children.Plan of Correction: The Center director will ensure that anyone working in kitchen will know all food sensitivity and allergies are posted.
