A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on 01/08/20 and 01/16/20 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. The inspector arrived at the center at 2:35 PM and departed at 4:35 PM. There were 24 children in care with 3 staff providing care and supervision. Five children's records were reviewed during this inspection. Five staff records were reviewed as well on January 16, 2020. This vendor had three medications onsite and those medications were reviewed. A licensing inspection was also conducted this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection and discussed at the conclusion. Standard #: 22VAC40-665-580-B Description: Based on record review and discussion with staff, the vendor failed to ensure that within the first 90 days of employment or subsidy vendor approval all staff who work directly with children shall complete Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff, which shall include training on the all elements required by subsidy.
Evidence:
1. Staff 2 had a documented hire date of 05/06/2018 and a documented Preservice completion date of 01/15/2020. Staff 5 verified this information.
2. Staff 3 had a documented hire date of 10/25/2018 and a documented Preservice completion date of 05/27/2019. Staff 5 verified this information.Plan of Correction: In the future, staff will be informed that they cannot work after 90 days if they have not completed Preservice.
