Comments:
A request to change the location of the family day home license was received on September 26, 2023. An initial inspection was conducted on October 16, 2023, based on a request to change the location of the family day home license. The request was received by the Office of Child Care Health and Safety on September 26, 2023. The new residency was inspected and complied with current family day home standards. The provider will provide care using three rooms on the first floor of the home to children ages 18 months through 12 years. The home was equipped with supplies and age-appropriate materials. A capacity of (12) twelve children is recommended based on zoning regulations and usable space available within the home. There were no children present during the inspection.
The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A walk through of the entire house and yard was conducted.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
If you have any questions regarding this inspection, please contact the licensing inspector.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-240-A
Description: Based on observation, the provider did not ensure areas of the family day home, inside and outside, were maintained in a clean, safe, and operable condition.

Evidence:

The wooden fence running along the side of the rear yard has one picket that is warped. The picket is detached at the top and bottom of the fence. The curve of the warped picket creates pinch points and areas that could snag the skin of a child.

Plan of Correction: Per the provider: I will have my husband replace the picket in the fence.
