An announced initial inspection was conducted on March 15, 2023. from approximately 9:50 AM until 11:30 AM. The applicant intends to operate a family day home for up to 5 children, ranging in age from 5 months to 7 years. At the time of entrance, there were no children in care. The entire home, to include areas where children will be cared for, bathroom facilities, kitchen and the outside play area were inspected. First aid and emergency supplies were reviewed. The provider?s record and one household members record were reviewed. There were violations cited during the inspection.
Please complete the plan of correction, and date to be corrected for each violation listed on the violation notice and return it to me within 5 business days from receipt. Your plan of correction should contain: 1) steps to correct the noncompliance with the standard(s); 2) measures to prevent the noncompliance from occurring again; and 3) person(s) responsible for implementing each step and/or monitoring any preventative measures. Please do not use staff names; list staff by positions only.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-760-A-1 Description: Based on observation and interview, the provider did not ensure that the required first aid kits contained the required items.
Evidence:
1. The first aid kit did not contain one of the two triangle bandages.Plan of Correction: Will be in place.
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-290 Description: Based on observation, the provider did not ensure sharp kitchen utensils and other sharp objects shall be inaccessible to children unless being used by the caregiver or with children under close supervision.
Evidence:
1. The provider's sharp kitchen utensils were not inaccessible to children. The utensils were kept in an unlocked drawer within a child's reach.Plan of Correction: Locks will be installed.
