The Virginia Department of Social Services is committed to improving the health, safety, and well-being of over 400,000 children and vulnerable adults served in over 6,700 regulated care settings through a comprehensive program of regulatory oversight and related provider services. We also play an important role in the training and development of staff in adult and child care facilities.

Our Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Development (OECD) is committed to both the quality, availability and affordability of child care in Virginia. The Department provides guidance and support to parents, child care providers and the community to ensure safe, healthy and caring environments for children.
