Out of State Requests for Evaluations in Virginia
Requests by out of state courts for child custody and visitation evaluations on Virginia parents involved in divorce cases may be sent directly to the appropriate local department of social services or court service unit, if the address is known. If the appropriate jurisdiction or address in Virginia is unknown, requests may be sent, in duplicate, to the Virginia Interstate Compact Office for forwarding to the local social services agency for a direct response. All requests for custody evaluations involving parties other than parents must be sent to the Interstate Compact Office.
Forward in duplicate:
- A cover letter requesting a child custody/visitation evaluation.
- A copy of the court order requesting a custody/investigation evaluation.
Requests by Virginia Courts
Requests by Virginia courts for out of state child custody and visitation evaluations may be sent directly to the appropriate local department of social services or court service unit located in the receiving state, if the address is known. If the appropriate jurisdiction or address is unknown, requests may be sent, in duplicate, to the Virginia Interstate Compact Office for forwarding to the receiving state's Interstate Compact Office for forwarding to the appropriate agency.
All requests for custody evaluations involving parties other than parents must be sent to the Interstate Compact Office.

- A copy of the court order requesting a custody/investigation evaluation.
Note: Information about a specific state's procedures, requirements, and interpretations and application of the ICPC should be obtained from the ICPC Compact Administrator or Deputy in that state.
