- Northern Virginia Family Service
(NVFS)
NVFS assumed the responsibility for the services previously provided by the
Center for Multicultural Human Services (CMHS) beginning April, 2008. CMHS
is a social services agency that operated in Northern Virginia for over 25
year, focusing on the multicultural population of the region. The offerings
of CMHS included housing and domestic violence programs, school-based enrichment
programs, mental health, and an extensive volunteer program. NVFS will occupy
CMHS' office in Falls Church and continue to deliver the same services with
the same staff.

Virginia
In an effort to assist health care providers meet the needs of Virginia's
changing demographics, the Virginia Department of Health Office of health
Policy and Planning has created the Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate
Health Care Services for Virginia Resource Guide. This guide is comprised
of an interactive map that includes profiles on the top five languages spoken
by Limited English Proficient residents in each of Virginia's health districts;
plus other language resources, tools and data.

Newcomer Health Program
The Office of Newcomer Services coordinates with the Virginia Department of
Health to sponsor this program providing medical screening, through local
departments of health, to newly arrived refugees in Virginia.
