SNAP Replacement Amounts
EBT Scam Prevention Home

Please note that replacement benefits cannot exceed the actual amount stolen or the household’s benefit amount for the two months immediately preceding the theft, whichever is lesser.

VDSS will not be able to approve replacement issuances:

  • In cases where the household’s request for replacement is either fraudulent or outside the specific types of fraudulent activity that are allowed to be replaced.

  • If the household has already received two replacement issuances for stolen benefits in the federal fiscal year.

  • If the household submits the claim outside of the 30-day reporting period.

  • If the alleged fraud did not occur between Oct.1, 2022, and Sept. 30, 2024.

Households are able to request a hearing to appeal in cases where replacement funds were not approved. VDSS will inform households on how an appeal can be requested. Replacement funds will not be issued during the appeal period.
