The AmeriCorps State program operates in Virginia through the Virginia Service Commission and Serve Virginia to provide grants to public and nonprofit organizations that sponsor service programs throughout the state, including faith-based and community organizations, higher education institutions, and public agencies. Grants assist these groups in recruiting, training, and placing more than 350 AmeriCorps State members to meet critical community needs in education, environmental stewardship, health, and financial literacy across Virginia.
