Individual Health Insurance

Open enrollment starts November 1, 2017 and ends December 15, 2017. Persons currently enrolled in health insurance through the marketplace, will be auto-enrolled in the same or a similar plan unless they select a plan by December 15.

Several health insurers have made changes for 2017 that may affect clients. If an insurer is no longer offering coverage in an area, a new plan with a new insurer will be selected for clients unless they select a plan on their own or opt out of the exchange. Clients need to log into their account at www.healthcare.gov/login to verify information and shop plans available in their area. When shopping for a plan, it is important to compare the cost as well as the benefits to find the best option. Options may vary from what was available in 2017. Even if clients are auto-enrolled in a plan, they are able to choose a different plan at any time during the 45-day open enrollment period.

As health plans and prices change, the amount of financial help clients can get changes. Healthcare.gov is the only place to get financial help. The website also offers free assistance. Need help?
