VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES

The Commonwealth of Virginia Emergency Operations Plan designates VDSS as the lead agency for Emergency Support Function (ESF) 6: Mass Care, Emergency Assistance, Housing Referral, and Human Services. The VDSS Office of Emergency Management coordinates the development and maintenance of state plans in support of this role. OEM collaborates externally with local, state, and federal agencies, non-government organizations and the private sector to promote "whole community" planning.
