Technical Assistance:

For residents that do not like to take their medication(s) early in the morning, it would be recommended to have the physician to consider changing the medication administration times to better suit the resident's personal preference. When residents refuse their medication(s) on a regular basis there should be documentation in the resident file to show communication between the facility and the physician.

Comments:

Two licensing inspectors conducted a complaint investigation starting on 05/06/2019 and ending on 05/21/2019 at Commonwealth Senior Living at Radford. The allegation being reviewed was a resident was not receiving their medications on a regular basis and the staff was not making diligent efforts to give the resident their medications. Based on a review of the evidence, the complaint was determined to be not valid. No violations are being cited as a result of this investigation. An exit interview was held on 05/06/2019 with the administrator and on 05/21/2019 with administrative staff.
