Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-73-470-G
Description: Based on interviews and chart review as part of a monitoring inspection, it was determined the facility did not assess whether it could continue to meet the resident's needs when a resident refused medical attention. Evidence: Resident A has refused most of her medication and treatment over the last two week period. This includes blood sugar checks and insulin administration. Recordation in the resident chart is not clear when her TED hoses were placed and removed. The resident has also been involved in altercations with other residents. Resident A UAI of 1/9/2019, assess the resident as residential living. The facility's current documentation would support the level of care has now increased. The resident record does document follow-up with medical staff, but does not specify the assessment of whether the facility can continue to meet the resident's needs.

Plan of Correction: Will complete a head to toe assessment today for any skin alterations and notify MD for interventions - Effective today, Nurses will apply Ted hose/compression socks daily and assess resident skin Qshift and notify MD for refusals -DON or designee will complete an audit of complaince weekly for 90 days -Will notify county liaison today to complete UAI assessment -IDT will assess for appropriate level of care for resident at risk for non complaince with their paln of care including medications and treatments -Dr Lebedun our consulting psychologist will evaluate resident and help determine the appropriate level of care
