22VAC40-73 RESIDENT CARE AND RELATED SERVICES 22VAC40-73 EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

Comments:

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on February 4, 2020 from 6:36 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., and 2:35 p.m. to 4:33 p.m. There were 6 residents in care. The following was discussed: Utilizing plastic bags for laundry, heat sources in the facility, fire and emergency evacuation drawings, specifying instructions on physician?s orders, mental health report updates, and the first aid monthly checklist. Please submit your ?plan of correction? and ?date to be corrected? for each violation cited on the violation notice and return it within 10 calendar days. The plan of correction must indicate how the violation will be or has been corrected. The plan of correction must include: 1. Step(s) to correct the noncompliance with the standard(s) 2. Measures to prevent reoccurrence 3. Person(s) responsible for implementing each step and/or monitoring any preventative measures.

Description:	Based on observation and interview, the facility failed to ensure the current month?s activities schedule was posted in a conspicuous location in the facility. Evidence: 1. The most current activities calendar posted in the facility was dated December 2019 at the time of inspection. 2. Staff #1 observed and confirmed the current February 2020 activities schedule was not posted in the facility.
Plan of Correction:	Activity Calendar has been placed back on the wall for resident viewing. Calendar was taken down to add in the city of Hampton activities. Instead the city calendar was posted along side facility activity calendar. Administrator will keep facility and the city of Hampton calendar posted on wall to give residents options of additional activities. Corrected Feb. 4, 2020. Administrator will keep calendars posted.

Description:	Based on observation and interview, the facility failed to ensure that the motor vehicle used to transport residents included a first aid instruction manual. Evidence: 1. The facility?s transport motor vehicle did not contain a first aid instruction manual. 2. Staff #1 observed and confirmed the transport vehicle did not contain a first aid instruction manual.
Plan of Correction:	Small first Aid manual was placed in hard case first aid kit for vehicle. Administrator will be responsible for audit of this kit. Corrected Feb. 5, 2020.
