Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol
necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A renewal inspection was initiated on 06/25/2020 and concluded on 06/25/2020. The Administrator was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. The Administrator reported that the current census. The inspector emailed the Administrator a list of items required to complete the inspection. The inspector reviewed 3 resident records, 3 staff records, and additional documents submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-73-680-D
Description: Based on resident record review the facility failed to ensure medications shall be administered in accordance with the physician's or other prescriber's instructions and consistent with the standards of practice outlined in the current registered medication aide curriculum approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing.

Evidence: On 06/25/2020 while reviewing resident record #1 the medication notes read, " awaiting pharmacy 0 given".

Plan of Correction: Resident #1 medication was obtained from the pharmacy on 06/19/2020 and has been given per the physician's instruction. Measures to prevent the noncompliance from occurring again. Current LPNs and RMAs will be re-educated by the DRC/designee to the community's medication management plan with a focus on obtaining medication from the pharmacy. DRC/designee will review all new orders to ensure they are received from the pharmacy timely, weekly for 4 weeks then 2 times a month for 2 months to begin 8/1/2020 and end 10/31/2020. Person(s) responsible for implementation of each step and/or monitoring preventative measures.
