There was an allegation that the facility failed to fill and refill medications for residents in care. The complaint was determined to be valid. There were violations found during he inspection. The Administrator and the Licensing Inspector discussed the risk assessment ratings for the violations for this inspection.

Description: Based on resident record review and staff interviews, it was determined that the facility failed to follow its own policies for resident medication orders and refills.
Evidence:
The facility failed to fill and refill physician ordered medications for residents in care. The policy states that the facility will fill and refill medications as ordered by the physician for residents. The families will be billed if failure to bring requested medications in the time frame requested. The facility did not fill residents medications as ordered.
Resident A (5 medication doses), B (1 medication dose), C (11 medication doses), D (1 medication dose), E (7 medication doses), F (4 medication doses), G (6 medication doses), H (8 medication doses), I (31 medication doses), J (34 medication doses), K (4 medication doses), L (7 medication doses), M (18 medication doses), N (15 medication doses), O (37 medication doses), P (4 medication doses).

Plan of Correction: All physician ordered medication for residents in care will be filled and refilled as ordered. The facility will follow the policy to fill with the pharmacy and backup pharmacy and bill resident families for medications not brought to the facility as requested. The nursing staff will audit files and ensure compliance.
