Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on June 4 and on June 6, 2018 in the Center. There were 63 children present in the center upon the Licensing Inspector's arrival on June 4, 2018 at approximately 11:15 AM. The children were grouped in 6 separate classrooms. The children's ages ranged from toddlers to school-age. As reported by the Program Director, there are 103 children currently enrolled. Several groups were observed in their classrooms during open play. Several groups were observed during hand washing procedures in preparation for their lunch meal. Each group ate lunch in the dining room. The younger children returned to their classrooms after lunch and prepared for rest/nap time. The Center has temporarily closed the playground designated for preschool and younger. The fenced area has been expanded and new equipment added. Please notify this LI at the time the playground is ready for use. The Center's documentation of the annual fire and health inspections was current. A sample of 13 records was reviewed, 6 staff members and 7 children's. Medications were observed in the center for several children. Documentation of the practiced emergency drills was reviewed. The PD stated that an additional shelter-in-place drill and a lock down drill is to be conducted within the month. The vehicle binders were reviewed. A discussion regarding emergency contact information was held with the PD, the contact information for the other local hospital is to be added. The scheduled field trips for the summer program are to start this week for the school-age children. The LI continued the inspection at approximately 3:50PM on June 6th to complete staff records review. Dismissal procedures were also observed. The inspection exit was held at approximately 5:45PM.
