Center has 10 days to verify the staff have obtained finger print checks. SHSI Standards will be merged with the CDC Standards in October and all centers will be required to comply with these standards.
An unannounced inspection was conducted from 2:10-3:35. The Inspector had difficulty entering the facility as no one was in the front entry and ringing of doorbell were unsuccessful. After two attempts to contact center by phone were unsuccessful and went to voice mail, the Inspector walked around to the infant room window and knocked on the window. There were 78 children ( infants-5 years) with 18 staff. Inspector reviewed records, interviewed staff, and observed classes. Please call with questions 703-479-4679
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on record review, the center did not conduct an evacuation drill in July and has not conducted shelter in place drills. Plan of Correction: We will conduct drills each month and 2 shelter in place drills within the next 4 months.
Standard #: 63.2-1720.1-B-2 Description: Based on staff interviews and record review, the center did not have Staff 1 and Staff 2 submit to fingerprinting before they started employment at this facility. Evidence: 1. Administration stated staff had to be brought in from other affiliated centers because of staff shortages. Two of the staff came from a Washington DC location. 2. Records for both staff did not contain the eligibilty letter and management stated they thought the DC's Background check was sufficient. Plan of Correction: We removed both staff from the classrooms and have given them the information to obtain finger prints.
