At the time of inspection, 40 children (infants through five years) were directly supervised by 7 staff and ratios were in compliance. A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on August 28, 2018 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. The sample size consisted of 5 children records and 5 staff records. The new director has created systems for meeting standards, updated the classrooms, and continues to organize record keeping. Children were observed participating in group play, reading books, eating snack, and interacting positively with staff. Diapering and hand-washing procedures were also observed. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. There was an adequate number of staff with current certification in medication administration, CPR and First Aid, as well as daily health observation training. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. No violations of the supplemental subsidy health and safety requirements were found.
