Today an unannounced Renewal Inspection was conducted between the hours of 9:40am and 12:45pm. There were 6 classrooms observed with a total of 86 children with 12 staff within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed participating in Spanish class, working on valentine's, playing outside and eating lunch. A complete inspection of the physical plant, children and staff records, fire drill log, medication and emergency procedures were observed during this inspection. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you for your cooperation during this inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, areas of the center were not maintained in a safe and operable condition. Evidence: 1. The lid of the dress-up bin in the dolphins classroom has two large cracks that have created jagged edges. 2. The door to the straw 'Three little pigs' house in the tigers classroom has a broken hinge. The door is currently taped onto the house to stay in place. Plan of Correction: I'll remove the door to the pig house and we'll get a new bin for the dress-up clothes.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, hazardous substances were not kept in a locked place. Evidence: The closet in the Pollywogs classroom contains several different cleaning materials. The child lock on the door handle was not locked when the inspector entered the classroom. Plan of Correction: This was corrected during the inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-290-3 Description: Based on observation, not all electrical outlets had protective covers. Evidence: One outlet behind the wooden rocking chair in the Pollywogs classroom did not have a protective cover. Plan of Correction: This was corrected during the inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-440-B Description: Based on observation and interview, cots and rest mats are not identified for use by a specific child. Evidence: None of the cots in the classrooms are labeled for specific children. Plan of Correction: The teachers in all the classrooms know which sheets belong to each child. We'll put masking tape with the children's names on each cot.
