Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 8:30am -10:30am. Upon arrival there were 130 children in care with 22 staff. A sample of 2 staff and 10 children's records were reviewed in addition to 6 medications. Children were observed playing in centers, doing art activities, show and tell and number activities.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation the center did not ensure all hazardous substances were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method. Evidence: In room 8 (4 year-olds) there was a cabinet that had a safety lock that was not locked. The cabinet contained a bottle of hair spray with a "flammable" caution label.

Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the program director: A new lock was placed on the cabinet during the inspection.
