- Technical Assistance:
Discussed the area used for cribs and the requirements of space between cribs while occupied.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted this date. A total of 123 children present with 32 staff on site. Observation of all 7 classrooms was conducted. The children were observed eating lunch, transitioning to nap time. Hand washing and diapering procedures were observed. Artwork on display of construction paper turtles, Fox in Socks and Dr. Seuss' Cat in the Hat. Staff were observed sitting on the floor engaging with the infants, holding them while feeding them and sitting with the children while eating lunch. A total of 5 staff and 10 children's records were reviewed today. This inspection began at 10:30am and ended at 1:45pm. Thank you for your cooperation today. Please email me at: email@example.com
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-A Description: Based on observation of the Goldfish Class, hand washing procedures were not followed. Evidence: Licensing Inspector observed one staff wiping a child's nose and failed to wash hands afterwards. Plan of Correction: Staff were spoken to individually and retrained on the importance of proper hygiene.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-J Description: Based on observation of the Rainbow Fish class, medication was found unlocked. Evidence: A bottle of Tylenol was found in a child's cubby. This cubby was not locked and accessible to the children in care. Plan of Correction: School wide letter was sent to all families as a reminder. Medication was returned to parents.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-520-C Description: Based on observation of the Goldfish and Octopus classrooms, topical ointments were found accessible to children. Evidence: Topical ointments were found in the lower cabinet of the diaper changing station in the Goldfish Class. This cabinet was accessible to the children in care. Topical ointments were found in the lower cabinet of the diaper changing station in the Octopus class. The lock for this cabinet was broken. This area is accessible to the children in care. Plan of Correction: We removed the creams to an alternate cabinet with a lock and having the lock repaired.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-G Description: Based on observation of the Angels class, food brought from home was not labeled properly. Evidence: Food containers located in the Angels class was not labeled with the date. Plan of Correction: Staff were reminded to check bottles before parents leave the classroom.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-570-A Description: Based on observation of the Angelfish Class, high chair belts were not fastened. Evidence: Three children were observed in high chairs without the safety straps fastened. Plan of Correction: Individually spoke to teachers of the importance of buckling each child each time.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-570-E Description: Based on observation of the Angels class, infant formula was not labeled as required. Evidence: Baby bottles located in the refrigerator were not labeled with the date. Plan of Correction: Staff were reminded to check bottles before parents leave the classroom.
