- Technical Assistance:
An unannounced mandated inspection was completed on 04/09/2019 from 9:30 A.M. until 1:30 P.M. At the time of the inspection 43 children were in care with eight staff and two administrators present. Five children's records, six staff records, required posted information, evacuation drills, two medications and required documentation, four injury reports, first aid kits, emergency supplies, and outside play area were reviewed. Children were observed during outside play time, gross motor activity in the gym, handwashing, storytime with discussion, morning snack, art activity, sensory activities, transition, lunchtime, and naptime. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that all areas of the building were maintained in a clean, safe, and operable condition. Evidence: 1. In the Panda Classroom there was dried food on the door frame of the bathroom door. 2. In the Grizzly Classroom the bathroom door and bathroom door frame are covered in dirt, grime, and dried paint. 3. Staff verified that there was dried food on the door frame, and that the bathroom door and door frame were not maintained in a clean condition. Plan of Correction: Administration will speak with the Janitors and bring attention to the Panda and Grizzly bathroom conditions.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-290-3 Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that all electrical outlets were covered with protective covers. Evidence: 1. In the Gym there was an electrical outlet to the right of the doorway that did not have a protective cover. 2. In the Cubs Classroom there was a power strip next to the green shelve that did not have protective covers for three electrical outlets. 3. Staff verified that the electrical outlets were not covered with protective covers. Plan of Correction: Administration will review with all staff to complete a morning check in their classes to ensure that all electrical outlets are covered with a protective cover.
