An announced mandated initial inspection was conducted today. The inspectors arrived at 10 A.M. and departed at 1 P.M. Four classrooms were measured. The measured capacity is 77 children. Age requested is birth to 12 years. Discussion with the owner and director: ensuring all transportation (VAC 40-185-580) standards are met prior to transporting, children, ensuring all previous owner items are completed and the new owners items are completed prior to opening day,
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation of the center , the center failed to ensure that all areas and equipment was maintained in a clean, safe and operable manner. Evidence: 1. The girl's school age bathroom had peeling paint around the sink and the toilet. The toilet on the left was loose. 2. The first toilet in the girl's preschool bathroom has a broken lid to the tank. The tank has duck tape wrapped around the lid. 3. The barriers around the playground equipment is deteriorating and poses hazard with the splintering wood. 4. In the preschool classroom the tile floor in front of the outside door was broken and had missing pieces. Plan of Correction: The items will be fixed as required by the standard ASAP.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-E Description: Based on observation of the storage closet, the center failed to ensure that chemicals were not stored with insecticides or pesticides. Evidence: 1. Observed in the storage closet a spray can of pesticide with the center's cleaning chemicals. Plan of Correction: The spray can of pesticide was removed. All teachers will be reminded.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-540-C Description: Based on observation of the first aid kit in the van, the center failed to ensure that all items were included in the kit as required by the standard. Evidence: 1. Observed in the kit the antiseptic solution expired. Plan of Correction: The director will purchase new antiseptic solution.
