- Technical Assistance:
Securing of the air conditioner cord along the exterior wall in the K-3rd classroom was discussed with the assistant director. There is an area of the cinder blocks under the wall air conditioner on the exterior wall of the 4th - 8th classroom where the paint and pieces of the cinder blocks are friable maybe indicating moisture. etc. This was discussed with the assistant director. The need to document thoroughly specific details describing children's injuries was discussed.
An unannounced, mandated monitoring inspection was conducted today. The inspector arrived at 11:30 AM and departed at 1:10 PM. Eighty-six children were in care at the start of the inspection. Activities and lunch service were observed. Injury records were reviewed. A sample size of eight children's records were reviewed. Plans, supplies, CPR/first aid and MAT training of staff for the upcoming camping trip were reviewed. An exit meeting was conducted with administrators prior to closure of the inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based upon observation, the facility has not ensured that hazardous substances are kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: There were two containers of Lysol Sanitizing Wipes labeled "caution, keep out of reach of children" on top of a file cabinet in the 3rd grade classroom. Plan of Correction: The facility responded with the following: The sanitizing wipes were moved to a locked location during the inspection. All staff will be reminded that potentially hazardous substances must be kept in locked locations when not in use.
