Technical Assistance:
Consultation and technical assistance today included supervision in both rooms when using a baby monitor until a caregiver is available to be downstairs with the sleeping infants. To access the new on-line trainings, go to and look under children and provider resources & training. Information about MAT classes and EMAT classes should have a link there.

An unannounced renewal inspection was conduct today from 11 am - 1:30pm. There were 11 children plus the child of an assistant present for 36 points with the provider and three assistants. I observed children playing outdoors; talking about plans for Halloween; singing; preparing for lunch and naptime. The new downstairs area for indoor play is very spacious and appears very child friendly with a variety of learning opportunities. If you have any questions, please contact me at

Description: A review of staff training records today found that not all staff received the required amount of annual training (in addition to CPR/First Aid) this year. Plan of Correction: We will take more on-line training this year.

Description: During today's inspection, some electrical cords of the outdoor play area were observed to be accessible. Evidence: In two areas there were orange extension cords observed that were hanging, potentially accessible by standing on the bench below. The prongs of an unused electrical cord were observed to be accessible at foot level height today.

Plan of Correction: Corrected during inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-500-C
Description: During today's inspection, it was noted that the outdoor playground equipment was placed on a hard surface with an insufficient amount of cushioning. Evidence: The climbing structure was placed on the wooden surface of the deck, with mats that were placed below the slide and stairs, but not protecting from falls from other areas of the structure.

Plan of Correction: We have more mats in the garage. I will put it out this afternoon.

A compliance history is in no way a rating for a facility.

The online compliance history includes only information after July 1, 2003. In addition, the online compliance history includes information regarding adverse actions that may be the subject of a pending appeal. An adverse action is not final until a provider has exhausted or waived all due process rights. For compliance history prior to July 1, 2003, or information regarding the status of pending adverse actions, please contact the Licensing Inspector listed in the facility's information. The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is not responsible for any errors in or omissions from the compliance history information.
