Thank you for your assistance during today's unannounced monitoring inspection conducted from 10:53 AM to 2:40 PM. Today, there were up to ten children (twenty-five points) with two caregivers. I viewed staffing, supervision, interactions with children, activities, equipment, posted information, emergency supplies and drill records, lunch/snack, sleep arrangements, three records for children, diapering procedures, two caregiver records, caregiver training, pet record, indoor and outdoor areas. The children have enjoyed a variety of play equipment, seasonal art and planned learning activities. The caregivers were seen responding to individual needs for care, comfort and guidance. There were organized systems for record keeping. Age appropriate routines have been provided for the children. Let me know if you need any assistance. 540/430-9259
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-240-A Description: Based on observation of the outdoor playground area, and an interview with the provider, there were unsafe metal protrusions at ground level on the playground. Evidence: A metal peg at a corner base of the gold slide was protruding upward at least two inches. There were two metal rebar tops protruding upward, more than one inch, from wooden borders near the swings. Plan of Correction: The provider will arrange for a family member to assist with hammering the metal peg into the ground and the rebar into the wooden border. The provider and assistant will do regular checking of the conditions on the playground to determine any unsafe conditions that need to be fixed. The provider will make sure the grounds are maintained in a safe condition at all times.
