An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today, February 9, 2017 to check for compliance with licensing standards. The inspector arrived at 10:00 am and concluded the inspection at 12:00 pm. There were eight children present with two caregivers for a total of 15 points. Upon the inspectors arrival, children were watching and participating in a children's yoga video. Later children listened to a story, reviewed letter sounds, colors and practiced spelling their names. Children and caregivers talked about the concept of balance. Children were eager to show the inspector how they could balance on one leg. Children sang songs while lunch was being prepared. Today's lunch consisted of beef meatballs with tomato sauce, peas, fruit and milk. The family day home has age and stage appropriate supplies and materials. Caregivers interacted in a positive manner and encouraged children to be positive to each other. The playground and deck area were inspected. Areas used for child care were inspected. The provider had the license, last inspection notice, emergency numbers, menu and information for parents posted. The first aid kit and non medical emergency supplies were inspected and found to be complete. The Inspector interacted with caregivers and children enrolled. Eight children's records and two caregiver's records were reviewed. The family day home does not administer medications nor provide transportation. The most recent evacuation drill was on 01/12/2017. The two shelter in place drills for 2016 were completed on 02/01/2016 and 07/19/2016. Both caregivers have current CPR and First aid training. The violations from the previous inspection on July 26, 2016 were check for corrections. There were no repeat violations found during today's inspection. If you have questions regarding this inspection, please contact the licensing inspector at 804-662-9758.

A compliance history is in no way a rating for a facility.

The online compliance history includes only information after July 1, 2003. In addition, the online compliance history includes information regarding adverse actions that may be the subject of a pending appeal. An adverse action is not final until a provider has exhausted or waived all due process rights. For compliance history prior to July 1, 2003, or information regarding the status of pending adverse actions, please contact the Licensing Inspector listed in the facility's information. The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is not responsible for any errors in or omissions from the compliance history information.
