- Technical Assistance:
Emphasized the importance of health examinations for children. A reminder that health examinations are required within 30 days of the start of care. Clarified designated sleeping areas for infants.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted this date. Provider and 1 assistant present during inspection with 10 children (23 points). This inspection began at 10:30am and ended at 1pm. At the start of the inspection, children were observed playing an educational game on the computer, drawing and coloring independently and group play which consisted of playing with the train table and doll house. Observation of bottle feeding and hand washing observed. Recordation has improved from the last licensing inspection in December 2016. Annual staff training well documented. Previous violations reviewed and one violation remains repeated/uncorrected pertaining to health examinations. Observation of lunch preparation which consisted of chicken burritos, salad, pears and milk. Emergency preparedness plan reviewed for required updates. Current CPR/First Aid was verified. All background checks are current. No medications on site at this time. A total of 6 children's records and 2 staff records to include training logs were reviewed today. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-60-B Description: Based on review of children's records, some children's records were incomplete. Evidence: Child #1, #2, and #3's records do not have results of a health examination. This is a repeated/uncorrected violation from the licensing inspection in December 2016. Child #5's record does not have results of a health examination. Plan of Correction: Provider will give all parents page 4 of the health examination to parents today to be completed by their pediatricians.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-70-A Description: Based on review of children's records, information disclosed to parents is not current. Evidence: Provider does not currently administer any medications and does not have current MAT training, however the medication for administration of medications indicates that provider administers both over the counter and prescribed medications. No medications are administered at this time. Plan of Correction: Provider will update the policy for medications indicating that provider does not administer medications at this time and provide to all parents.
