Today we discussed better documenting the updated orientation content in staff files for employees and volunteers in the family day home to more clearly indicate that the specific required areas are reviewed and acknowledged.
An unannounced Annual Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. There were 9 children, ages 18 months to 9 years old, for a total of 17 points, in care at the time of arrival with the vendor and one assisitant. The records sample size consisted of 5 children?s records and all (3) caregiver / household member records. Children were observed playing outdoors, having a morning snack of watermelon slices and milk, playing with a variety of toys, working on teacher directed projects involving following directions, coloring and cutting paper, playing with Play-doh and reading. Hand washing, food service, table sanitizing and restroom procedures were also observed today. Children ate corn dogs, broccoli, pineapples and milk for lunch. Medication administration was not observed. The vendor states that no medication is administered to children in care at this time and that children are not routinely transported in a vehicle during the summer, but may be for before and after school care in the fall. There have been no accidents or injuries requiring first aid or medical treatment incurred by children in care since the last inspection. There are no children currently enrolled who have diagnosed food allergies. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice. Thank you for your time during today's inspection. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I may be of assistance.
Standard #: VENDHOM-000-029-B-5 Description: Based on a review of documentation and interview, the family day home's written emergency plan does not contain information on lockdown procedures to be implemented in an emergency situation. Plan of Correction: The vendor states that she will add a section to her written to procedures to document how lockdown procedures will be implemented and under what circumstances it shall occur. This information will be documented today and reviewed with all caregivers employed or volunteering in the family day home.
A compliance history is in no way a rating for a facility.
The online compliance history includes only information after July 1, 2003. In addition, the online compliance history includes information regarding adverse actions that may be the subject of a pending appeal. An adverse action is not final until a provider has exhausted or waived all due process rights. For compliance history prior to July 1, 2003, or information regarding the status of pending adverse actions, please contact the Licensing Inspector listed in the facility's information. The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is not responsible for any errors in or omissions from the compliance history information.
