Comments:
Thank you for your assistance during today's unannounced inspection, conducted in conjunction with a licensing renewal inspection, from 12:05 PM to 4:55 PM. Today, there were eleven children in care, ages infancy through fourteen years (20 points) with two caregivers. Two other resident children over the age of eight years were present. I viewed emergency procedures and practice drill records, nutrition and food service, record keeping, hazardous substance practices, caregiver training, hand washing procedures, bathroom use, five records for children, four records for caregivers/residents. Let me know if you have any questions. 540/430-9259

Violations:
Standard #: VENDHOM-000-012-E
Description: Based on a review of four records for caregivers and residents, and an interview with the provider, caregiver 2 did not complete the first aid and CPR certification within thirty days of initial employment. Evidence: According to documentation in the record, caregiver 2 started work with the children on April 13, 2017 and the first aid/CPR certification was obtained on July 8, 2017. The provider indicated that a class was difficult to locate due to the rural location. One class she was registered for on June 24, 2017 became unavailable.

Plan of Correction: The provider will make sure to plan for scheduling first aid and CPR classes when a new caregiver will begin work so that it is attended within the first month of work with the children.
