Technical Assistance:
Reminder to remove the previous day care's name from forms used and replace it with the name of the new family day home provider or the business name.

An announced initial inspection was conducted today, November 17, 2017 from approximately 10:00am until 12:00pm. The home, model forms, emergency plans and supplies were reviewed. The child care area is recently repainted and in open and well supplied with toys and books for children. The provider and one assistant were supervising four children today for a total of 10 points, which is within the supervision guidelines. Children were observed to play with play dough, blocks, dress up and building puzzles. Interactions were frequent and positive in nature. No medications were present on site today in accordance with provider's policy. . Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-320-G
Description: Based on record review and provider statement, the wood burning fireplaces and associated chimneys shall be inspected annually by a knowledgeable inspector to verify that the devices are properly installed, maintained, and cleaned as needed. Evidence: There was no record of inspection for the wood burning fireplace or chimney in the family day home.

Plan of Correction: I have called to make an appointment. The earliest they can come and inspect is in December.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-500-D
Description: Based on observation, one outdoor swing had an "S" hook that was not tightly closed. Evidence: The "S" hooks on the swing with the yellow seat had an opening thicker than the width of a penny.

Plan of Correction: We will tighten them.
